La-de-da

Don’t you love it when you’re sitting there minding your own business and all of the sudden – completely out of the blue – an old camp song pops into your head?

Me too!

But I sure hate it when there’s no one to share it with. So, I’m just going to share it here. If it weren’t for the fact that I’m already snuggled in my jammies for the night, I’d consider sharing via a YouTube video post, but you don’t need to see me in my jimjams and you probably would prefer not to hear me sing!!

Yay! for camp songs!

La-de-da

Romeo and Juliet,
On a balcony, they met.
Scram you guys, I’ve got a date.
Shakespeare’s comin’ in a Ford V-8!

[Chorus]
La-de-da
Pop-pop, fizz fizz
La-de-da
Pop-pop, fizz fizz
La-de-da
Pop-pop, fizz fizz
La-de-da, la-de-da, la-de-da-da-da

Pepsi-Cola came to town.
Coca-Cola shot him down.
Dr Pepper fixed him up.
Now we all drink 7-Up.
[Chorus]
Henry Ford was a grand old man.
Took four wheels and an old tin can.
Put ’em together and the darn thing ran!
Henry Ford was a grand old man.
[Chorus]

  1. Francis,
I have been reading your blog for awhile now. I love it! You are an inspiration to me. I had to comment on this post. First of all, I always thought it was “Shakespeares coming in a 48.” I never knew what the 48 meant. Hee hee. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
When I sang it I think we changed the chorus a bit after each verse. Like after the Henry Ford verse I think I sang, ” La de da, crash crash bang bang, la de da, crash crash bang bang….
Also, here’s one more verse for you…
I’m a little peace of tin,
nobody knows what shape I’m in
Got four wheels and a running board,
not a Chevy or a Ford
Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🙂

    1. I always thought it was “Shakespeare’s coming in a 48” or “Shakespeare’s coming and I can’t be late”. The Ford V8 was a new one to me, but the one I found most online. I hadn’t heard the new verse before, either, so thanks for that!
I’m glad that you’re finding inspiration from me! I have to admit, I find so much from your sister. She’s been an amazing bit of support for me the last year or so!!
Enjoy your la-de-da stroll down Memory Lane!!
      Frances
