Acting scribbles

As part of Monday’s fun video shoot, I had to pretend to be hard at work doing academic-y stuff. So I sat and scribbled away in my notebook for a while. Of course, the scribbles were just a load of nonsense because I was so self-conscious about the filming that I couldn’t think of anything clever to write.

I joked with a friend yesterday that I should transcribe my scribbles to share with you here. So, that’s what I’m going to do. (Be afraid!)

PhD Video Scribbles

This is me writing stuff for my PhD video. It’s only slightly strange having people staring at me whilst I write.

Once upon a time I was sitting at a table writing lots of stuff. And then I was pretending to write even more stuff. It was quite a lot of fun.

I am trying to look very studious, as if I am really studying hard. This is not the way I would do this if I was studying in the real world. And now I am very aware that there are people staring at me. This is really embarrassing.

Keep writing important stuff. No one will know that this is just a lot of rubbish. Will I even be able to decipher this text later?

Is he still filming? I am almost out of paper here. Still, I can keep going as there are plenty of words I can still write. And I have quite a bit of paper left, you know.

I am trying to look very intent on my studies. I am trying to look like I am concentrating.

So, here I am writing away again after a short break. I’m pretending to be doing important stuff, but really I’m just writing a load of rubbish. I guess it’s a good thing that no one will be reading this except for me.

But that’s OK.

And now I’m busy writing again. It seems that this is a waste of ink, but I’m sure that it will be a good thing in the end. Is there a way to capture all of this for the final piece?

What if I were to start coughing now? Oops! I just did. Oh well, that’s a natural thing to do. I really must try to think about something else now though.

And now I will pick up and start writing again. It’s kind of nice to know that I’m not being seen from my waist down, as these jeans are not my favourite. Still, at least my awesome CWU sweatshirt will be seen.

Oh, it looks like they might be done filming now.

So, that’s it. That’s my big Friday night post. (I know, totally uninteresting.) But now, when you see the videos, you’ll be in on the little production secret! And it’s nice to have a bit of inside knowledge, right?
