Coming home
I got the keys to my new flat this morning and have spent the day traipsing up and down several flights of stairs to get my belongings moved in – and more trips up and down to get groceries and bedding and a few other bits-and-bobs in.
There’s still lots and lots of unpacking to do. And there is still lots and lots of stuff to buy to make this place home. But I’m sure it will be fun getting it all put together.
It’s a bit strange being in my own place now, but I think it’s going to be OK. Of course, since Rebecca is just around the corner, it’s not like I’ll be living in isolation!
I am going to resist the urge to write a long and boring description of my new flat. Instead, I’m just going to let you see it for yourself! And whilst you’re doing that, I’m going to pour myself a glass of wine to celebrate coming home.
Welcome home!
You have a mug rack!! Actually, the place looks pretty nice. And with some added color and personal pictures/photos, it will soon become very home-like. Is there anything you absolutely need that we can send over?
I can’t think of anything at the moment, but once I start getting settled something may come to mind. I’m wishing I’d put my good knives in the boxes being shipped, but I didn’t so I’ll need to go knife shopping later today. And since Daddy is 6,000 miles away, I guess I’ll need to get a wet stone, too… 🙂
You’ll need to talk him into visiting…then he can sharpen up whatever knives you have on hand!!
He is more than welcome to sharpen my knives (and shine my shoes) when he comes over, but I think it’s time I learn to do those things myself now that he’s 6,000 miles away. (Well, learn how to do them better. I can just about manage the skills, but have never bothered to master them because I have a Dad for those things!)
It’s much brighter than I imagined from your previous descriptions! The tile in the bathroom is quite pretty 🙂 I agree with your mom again, after a few of your own touches it looks like it will be a cheery little place! Happy Homecoming~
It is quite bright–and I do like it, it’s just so small compared to what I’m used to. It really will be a comfortable place for me.
btw the keys are very beautiful too!!
She says that was messy, you should have seen it when I left. She certainly has her work cut out tonight and tomorrow unpacking. But it’s a lovely place. And even better – it’s just round the corner from my work so I’ll be popping round for home cooked food on a regular basis!
Hope you enjoyed the wine – I still think I should have bought you bubbles!
xx
I am done unpacking and 90% of the stuff is even put away! Now I just need to buy more stuff for the kitchen so that I can get your dinners sorted!
Awesome kitchen towels by the way…!
I think an Eifle Tower cheese grater would have set them off just right … 🙂
Cool place! Is that a layer cake onj the counter? Let me know if there is anything I can send over. I can pick something up, or if you are terribly missing something that lives in one of the boxes at my house, just let me know.
Welcome home. Love, Ant Elizabeth
Mmmm… a layer cake. Maybe it’s time to break in the oven…
I can’t think of anything I need at the moment. And I’m pretty well-stocked for olives and Ranch dressing at the moment!!
Love you! xx
Congratulations on the new digs! I think it’s quite cute actually, especially the kitchen.
Best of luck in your new home! xo
Enjoy your new home! Your kitchen may be small but it looks bright!
Thanks ladies! The kitchen really is nice (though small). I looked at another flat down the road and the kitchen was top of the CONS list. If you can’t cook a meal in the place, it’s not a home!
I only gave you a four vote. That is because you are missing the awesome neighbor. Actually, it look great! And you look fantastic! Your new adventure must be treating you well.
Thanks, Kerry! I admit, it really doesn’t have the awesome neighbours that my last place had. But maybe those neighbours will come visit one day… Miss you!!
It looks ‘just’ right… and you look happy which is ‘just’ AWESOME!
Thank you! 🙂
Frances, I finally was able to get the video to play for me on your youtube channel. What a nice apartment! I’m sure it’s all homey now that you’re moved in. 🙂
I then clicked on the Funny games at Volunteer Park video and enjoyed the memories of our day together in Seattle. (my icky voice was in that video asking questions…lol)
I hope you’re enjoying Scotland and that school is going well. Take care! xoxo
Dawn
It is slowly starting to feel a bit homey–but it’s not 100% (yet). Once I feel like I have made it my home, I will give everyone another video tour!
Ah, Seattle… that was such a fun day. And your voice isn’t at all icky!
Hope you’re well and that you had a fab birthday celebration!!
xx
You were an excellent tour guide in Seattle! Thank you so much! We had great fun! 🙂
