In (bad) style

Oh my goodness gracious me! My parents sent me home with an old scrapbook of mine and I just had to share this awful picture. What the heck was I thinking?

So, what information about me can you gather from this photo?

  • I was friends with Shirley at the time, as that’s her kitchen
  • I was 16 years old
  • Wearing spandex under torn and tattered jeans with over-sized sweaters was my style of the day (though not necessarily the style of the day)
  • I had already bought my way-awesome brown leather jacket (Which I ceased wearing after a weekend softball tourney in my early 20s when it got completely soaked and damaged. This was a good thing.)
  • I was still on speaking terms with “V”, as that’s his skull-and-bones ring on a chain around my neck
  • I was still being courted by “J”, as the flowers were from him
  • I had way-awesome hair with my way-cool “wave” bangs
  • I used to sport extremely large glasses – ugg!
  • My nick-name at the time was “Jazz” because of my musical preferences and because I played clarinet in the school’s jazz band

This is one of the less embarrassing photos. Maybe I’ll share more from the scrapbook later – if I can stop laughing long enough to use the scanner again!

  1. I remember when those puffy bangs were everywhere. The more extreme forms made girls look like creatures from a Dr Seuss book. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

  2. * for a moment thought it was Flick
    * Had a similar way awesom brown leather jacket, did yours have a map on the lining?
*one curl up one curl down was sooooo coool why did we ever stop doing our hair that way 🙂
    * I don’t think they made small glasses back then
    * I’m so proud of you 2 guys at one time 🙂
    * and on my “fat” days I still miss the oversized sweater style.
    * this picture not so embarrassing, I’ll have to share some of mine with you.

  3. Jenna, I think it DID have a map lining! I still have it (don’t ask me why) so will have to get it out of the moth balls and check it out.
Now, for the “two guys” I have to say that I was being courted, but never dated either. I was 20 when I had my first “real” date – school dances and such were attended with guy friends, but not boyfriends. (21 before I had one of those, and have only ever had two. Lucky me!)
