Sing-a-longs with friends
I had a fantastic weekend in Glasgow with friends, despite being a bit run down from last week’s trip to London and Surrey for work. There was a part of me that wanted to cancel so that I could spend the weekend resting and recovering, but the fun more than made up for it, so I am glad that I went out!
The main reason for the weekend was to attend a live sing-along of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I was quite excited about it, but because I was travelling for work the week before and just busy in general the week before that, I didn’t have time to invest in making a homemade costume. And I didn’t really want to buy a cheap costume online.
Instead, I decided that I would attend as a generic cast member. So, I broke out my best trampy-looking gear and created a look. One of my friends had an old skirt from Halloween that improved upon my own random collection of stuff. And hence, a Rocky Horror outfit was born!
The sing-a-long was great fun. And even more fun was the dancing afterwards! Yes, we danced away until the club closed – something I haven’t done since I was in my early 20s! Of course, that meant that we didn’t get home until late, but I was pleased to have had the fun so I didn’t mind too much.
The next day, my friend took me shopping for a belated graduation gift. I had no idea what she was planning to get me, but she felt that the gift was just what a doctor needed: A luxurious Chanel lipstick and a Chanel compact mirror. And so, I now own my first-ever Chanel lipstick! It’s a great addition to my lipstick collection, as I’ve been working for the last year to wear lippy more often.
Anyhow, it was a good weekend that I didn’t want to participate in. But I feel quite rejuvenated for having gone and I am so grateful to have a wonderful friend like Eleanor to make me feel special!
