The holiday ends here
After three wonderful weeks in the Homeland, I am heading home to my Heartland of Scotland. My bags are packed, I’ve checked in at the airport, and I’m waiting for my flight to board. And I am crying. As I always do when I say goodbye to my parents.
But I had a wonderful visit and I am committed to making another visit before a full year passes. In fact, I have decided to return for another visit next year after I’ve had my PhD viva – although I don’t know the exact timing for that yet.
I am really sad to be leaving the Homeland, but I am also looking forward to my return to the Heartland. Because that is where my daily life is now and that is where I must return so that I can finish my PhD. And to be honest, I am kind of looking forward to an exciting and productive September – especially after I’ve enjoyed a largely relaxing August.
So the holiday ends here. And the hard work begins here. But I’m ready for it!
