Bye-bye, 2016; you’ve been wonderful!
It seems that 2016 is a year that has left a lot of bitterness for people across the world, for so many reasons. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard negative sentiments people have shared about the year. And, sadly, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve complained about what an awful year 2016 has been.
And you know, 2016 brought some really crummy things my way, including illness, isolation, and injury. Yes, 2016 has really brought me some right-crappy moments.
But if I really think about it, 2016 has brought me an amazing amount of positive, happy things.
I had an amazingly winning week in January, I did a stand-up comedy gig in February to a packed house, and a paper published in December.
I enjoyed walks in the hills around my home, a trip to Oban, a visit to Arran, and a birthday break away to North Berwick.
I went to France, Croatia, and Denmark and I met with friends around Scotland on so many occasions.
There has been an amazing amount of laughter and joy this year, and some hopeful glimpses at some amazing things that may be realised in 2017. And even though there were also tears, the happy moments more than make up for it.
So, here’s to 2016: A year to be remembered, for all of the wonderful reasons!
